Redbridge GL and CSSE — prepared for as different tests

The programme supports both routes without treating them as the same examination. Redbridge GL uses English, Verbal Reasoning, Mathematics and Non-Verbal Reasoning; the current CSSE examination is based on English and Mathematics.

The CSSE 11+ is used by consortium member schools across Chelmsford, Colchester, Southend, Westcliff and surrounding areas.

Examples include King Edward VI Grammar School, Colchester County High School for Girls, Colchester Royal Grammar School, Southend High Schools and Westcliff High Schools.

All four areas support Redbridge GL preparation; English and Maths also form the core of CSSE preparation.

The first block starts on Saturday . Classes are open to Year 4 and Year 5 pupils, with a maximum of 12 pupils in each class. Parents choose one Saturday time and keep that time for the full block.

Fixed-class policy
A booking reserves your child's place in the selected class time for the full block. Class times cannot be changed from week to week. Any exceptional request to change sessions is subject to availability and must be agreed in advance. After any applicable statutory cancellation rights have expired, bookings are non-refundable.

How booking works: choose the class time and block above, then enter the parent/guardian name, pupil name, email address and contact telephone number in the short booking-details form. You will then be taken to Stripe’s secure checkout to pay. After successful payment, Stripe sends a confirmation/receipt to the parent/guardian email address and the tuition team receives a separate successful-payment notification. Your place is confirmed only when Stripe payment succeeds.

What parents usually want to know

Is this programme for Year 4 or Year 5?

Both. Year 4 pupils can begin building the vocabulary, mathematical fluency and reasoning foundations needed for later 11+ work, while Year 5 pupils can move into more focused entrance-exam preparation. If you are unsure whether the class is suitable for your child, contact us before booking.

How many pupils are in each class?

Each 90-minute class has a maximum of 12 pupils and is taught by two qualified teachers.

Which entrance tests do you prepare for?

We prepare for both the Redbridge GL 11+ and the CSSE 11+. The formats are different: Redbridge GL covers English and Verbal Reasoning plus Mathematics and Non-Verbal Reasoning, while the current CSSE examination consists of English and Mathematics papers.

Which entrance should I use, and is parking available?

For Saturday tuition, please use the Perth Road vehicle entrance rather than arriving via Cranbrook Road. The school car park is accessed via Perth Road.

What information do I need to provide when booking?

Before Stripe payment, our booking form asks for the parent/guardian name, pupil name, email address and contact telephone number. These details are used to administer the tuition booking. You are then taken to Stripe’s secure checkout. After successful payment, Stripe sends the parent/guardian a receipt and sends the tuition team a successful-payment notification.

Are homework and materials included?

Yes. Practice materials and homework are included, and submitted homework is marked.

Can my child try the class before committing to four weeks?

The 2-lesson Starter Block (£50) is the lower-commitment way to begin. Parents can then continue with a 4-lesson block if the class is a good fit.

Can we switch between the two Saturday class times?

Your chosen time is reserved for the full block. Class times are not intended to change from week to week. Any exceptional request is subject to availability and must be agreed in advance.

What happens if my child misses a lesson?

A missed lesson is not normally transferable or refundable, subject to your statutory rights and any exceptional circumstances agreed with us. Please see the booking and cancellation terms below for full details.

Clear terms for parents

The information below forms part of our customer information for online and distance bookings. It does not affect your statutory consumer rights.

Booking, class-time and attendance terms

Lessons are sold in fixed blocks: a 2-lesson Starter Block for £50 GBP or a 4-lesson block for £100 GBP.
Classes are open to pupils in Years 4 and 5 and have a maximum class size of 12 pupils.
Parents choose either the 10:00–11:30 am class or the 11:30 am–1:00 pm class. The chosen time is reserved for the full block.
Class times cannot be changed from week to week. Any exceptional change is subject to availability and must be agreed in advance.
A place is confirmed when payment has been received and we issue booking confirmation.
If a pupil misses a scheduled lesson, that lesson is not normally transferable or refundable, subject always to statutory rights and any exceptional circumstances we agree in writing.
Tuition supports preparation and skill development but no particular examination result or school place is guaranteed.

Cancellation and refunds

Fixed-block cancellation policy. Please note that, after any applicable statutory cancellation rights have expired, bookings are non-refundable and no refund will be issued if you cancel a booked block or if a pupil misses a scheduled lesson.

Statutory rights. For most service contracts made online, by email or by telephone, consumers normally have a 14-day cancellation period. This policy does not remove or restrict any statutory rights that apply to your booking.

If you expressly ask us to begin providing tuition during an applicable cancellation period and later cancel, you may be required to pay a proportionate amount for services already provided.

If we cancel a lesson and cannot provide a suitable replacement, we will offer a refund for the affected lesson or another agreed arrangement.

REDBRIDGE 11 PLUS TUITION LIMITED is responsible for the personal information it collects for tuition administration.

We may collect parent/guardian contact details, booking information, limited pupil information needed to provide tuition, attendance information and payment records. We use this information to administer bookings, deliver tuition, communicate with families, meet legal obligations and manage the business.

We do not sell personal information. We may share information with service providers where necessary to operate the business, including payment processors. Card payments made through Stripe are processed by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card number.

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and to meet applicable legal, tax and record-keeping requirements.
